Winter Engagement Session at the Hilbert Conservatory

I love it when I get the opportunity to photograph an engagement session in a new location! This was my first time shooting at the Hilbert Conservatory, located at the Indianapolis Zoo. It was so fun to explore the space and get to know this sweet couple, Esme and Nick. 

Esme and Nick are both dentists, so they had an instant connection! Additionally, they both enjoy outdoor activities, such as hiking and traveling. However, they’re equally as happy enjoying each other’s company at home. Most weekends, they spend their time playing video games and hanging out with their two cats, Beans and Scrimbleshanks. 

Engagement Session at the Hilbert Conservatory

Esme and Nick scheduled their engagement session in the middle of winter. So, finding a warm and well-lit location was at the top of their list. The Hilbert Conservatory matched those qualifications, and the couple loved the idea of all the greenery. It turned out to be the perfect choice! The conservatory was quiet when we visited, with hardly any other visitors. So, we took our time exploring the space and stopping in front of the various backdrops.

Winter Engagement Session Outfits

I loved the outfits Esme and Nick chose for their winter engagement session! Since we shot most of their session indoors, the couple didn’t need to bundle up too much. However, the season still influenced the colors and textures they wore. Esme wore a cream-colored bouclé dress belted with a black satin ribbon and accessorized with black pumps. Meanwhile, Nick complemented her look perfectly in a forest green quarter-zip sweater, warm khaki pants, and brown loafers.

I’m so grateful to have worked with Esme and Nick on their engagement session. The Hilbert Conservatory is a beautiful location for portraits, and I hope to return there soon!
