Indiana University is one of my favorite places to hold photography sessions. From engagement sessions to weddings, I’ve photographed at Indiana University many times! Every time I return, it feels magical. That’s why I was absolutely thrilled to meet Jan and Bill there for their 50th anniversary session.
Anniversary sessions, especially one celebrating such a monumental milestone, hold a special meaning for me. Fifty years of love and commitment is an incredible achievement! And one that should always be documented. Jan and Bill’s story began on this very campus when they met as students, and now, half a century later, they returned to celebrate their journey together. I’m so honored to have been part of this moment, and I’m excited to share their beautiful photos with you!
Indiana University 50th Anniversary Session
Jan and Bill don’t currently live in Bloomington, but they decided to visit campus on their way to see family in Texas. We spent an hour walking around campus, capturing not only beautiful photos but also their memories of the place where their love story began. Watching them revisit the campus after so many years was special!
We went all over campus, from the Rose Well House to the fountain in front of Lilly Library. One of the best moments was when we were outside the library and saw a huge banner about “Love in the Library.” The Library was doing an exhibit on romance novels! It couldn’t have been more perfect – so we made sure to get pictures underneath. We also made sure to get photos of them in their Indiana University hats because no IU session is complete without a little school spirit!
It was such a joy working with Jan and Bill on their 50th anniversary session. Each spot was a memory for them, so it was so fun reminiscing and listening to their stories. As someone who spends so much time photographing at IU, it was wonderful to see the campus through their eyes and learn about its history from their perspective.
Capturing moments like these is why I love what I do. Whether it’s an anniversary, wedding, or special celebration, I believe every stage of your love story deserves to be preserved.
