Emmie, a kindergarten teacher, and Johnny, a youth pastor, met through a mutual friend. They discovered a shared love of long walks and coffee, and the rest is history! Their spring wedding in Columbus was a sweet, family-focused celebration with an emphasis on faith. It was my honor to help these two document their wedding day memories!
An Emotional Getting-Ready Morning and First Look
Emmie spent the morning getting ready with her bridesmaids at her parents’ home. Her mom helped her into her romantic lace gown in an upstairs bedroom with gorgeous natural light. Then, her maid of honor assisted her with putting on her shoes. The house was such a meaningful getting-ready spot, and there wasn’t a dry eye in the room as Emmie transformed into a bride!
Then, it was time for Emmie’s first look with Johnny at their reception venue, a friend’s farm outside Columbus. When Johnny saw his beautiful bride, he had the sweetest reaction! The happy tears flowed as the couple took a moment to themselves to admire each other in their wedding finery and read private vows. After the two parted ways until their ceremony, Emmie had one last stop: a first look with her dad and grandma. Her grandma’s reaction upon seeing her is still one of my favorite captures from the day!
DIY Spring Wedding in Columbus
Emmie and Johnny took a DIY approach to planning their wedding day, which I loved! They had their ceremony at the church where Johnny pastors and used a friend’s farm for their reception, rather than booking a traditional venue. Custom–painted touches, including his and hers sunglasses and a card table sign with the couple’s name and wedding date, featured at the reception. The couple also found a unique way to incorporate their faith into the day! They encouraged their guests to highlight favorite verses in a family Bible instead of signing a traditional guest book.
