A Bloomington, Indiana Spring Wedding on Private Property

Real Weddings

As Bloomington natives and active members of the city’s arts community, Anita and Charlie crossed paths for years before pairing up. Eventually, they discovered that something more than mere coincidence kept drawing them together. The rest is history! They’ve been together for seven years and love laughing and traveling together.

Their shared passions for music, dance, and community imbued every part of their Bloomington, Indiana spring wedding. Set in the backyard of a private, family-owned residence, this was one of the most unique celebrations I’ve ever had the pleasure of photographing. Guests enjoyed multiple activities, meaningful musical performances, and an overall atmosphere of incredible warmth. It felt like a gathering of good friends and family, with the added joy of celebrating Anita and Charlie.

Bloomington Wedding Photography Tailored to Their Vision

Community is one of Anita and Charlie’s most cherished values. So, when they envisioned their wedding day, they pictured themselves present with their guests for as much of it as possible. To make that happen, we simplified their wedding photography package. We skipped getting-ready photos and kept portraits to a minimum so Anita and Charlie could focus on connecting with their loved ones (and enjoying the delicious food!).

For me, wedding photography isn’t one-size-fits-all. Some couples want lots of portraits, while others prefer a more candid approach that allows them to immerse themselves in the celebration they planned. That’s why your Mika LH Photography experience is tailored to your vision. I’m here to serve you with a package that fits your love story, whether that means hiking through the woods to capture your elopement or creating a timeline that prioritizes presence over posing.

A Connection-Focused Bloomington, Indiana Spring Wedding

Picture the best backyard spring party you could dream up, and that was Anita and Charlie’s wedding. Instead of a traditional reception, they planned an evening centered on connection and fun. Guests mingled at a grazing table, a flower crown-making station, a homemade photo booth hung with antique frames and fresh blooms, and a puzzle table featuring a photo of the couple. Drinks kept cool inside a rustic canoe, and dinner was a Mediterranean buffet with live music.

However, the couple kept one beloved wedding tradition—the parent dances—and added a meaningful twist. While Anita and her father danced, Charlie sang and played his guitar. Then, while Charlie and his mother danced, his father and siblings sang and played their instruments.

Anita and Charlie’s Bloomington, Indiana, spring wedding proves your wedding can be whatever you want. Keep the traditions you like, skip the ones you don’t, and create a celebration that reflects your love story, personalities, and values. Whatever that looks like, I’d love to capture it.
