Mady and Bobby celebrated their wedding in three parts, and I had the honor of photographing two of them. First, they tied the knot in an intimate destination wedding ceremony in Italy, set amongst the hills of Tuscany. Then, they returned to Bloomington to sign their marriage license at the courthouse on July 31st, followed by a reception with friends and family at IU Alumni Hall on August 1st.
Celebrating at IU Alumni Hall was especially meaningful for Mady and Bobby because they met as students at the university. In fact, I took Mady’s graduation photos when she earned her bachelor’s degree in 2023! It was so fun to reconnect with her and help her and Bobby document this exciting chapter of their love story.
Wedding Photography Session at the Bloomington Courthouse
Although they had already exchanged vows in Italy, Mady and Bobby still wanted to document the moment they officially became husband and wife in the States. So, I joined them for a short but incredibly sweet session at the Bloomington Courthouse. I captured the moment they signed their marriage license, then some portraits around the courthouse grounds and streets of downtown Bloomington. I loved the chic ivory vest and skirt that Mady wore!
Travel-Inspired Reception at IU Alumni Hall
The following day, it was time for the newlyweds to celebrate with their loved ones at IU Alumni Hall. The reception details were important to Mady, who wanted the decor to remind her and Bobby of their ceremony in Italy. To accomplish that, they decorated with framed photos from the ceremony and a map of Italy. They also incorporated travel-inspired details, including an escort card table with a globe and a suitcase card box.
It was a laid-back evening of mingling with friends and family, dining, and dancing. Mady also had a sweet “getting-ready” moment with a few of her closest friends, who helped her into her reception dress.
I’m so glad I could photograph Mady and Bobby’s courthouse wedding and IU Alumni Hall reception. It’s always so rewarding to work with a returning client, like Mady.
