Mansion Wedding in Indianapolis

Real Weddings

Lienne and Harrison’s mansion wedding outside Indianapolis was so fun to photograph! It was November, so the trees on the property had the most lovely color, perfect for portraits. In addition to that, this couple is just so much fun! They met in Indy through a mutual friend and discovered a shared love of nerdy things (including Dungeons & Dragons, which they incorporated throughout their special day). After two years of friendship, they started dating and quickly realized they were made for each other!

A Mansion Wedding with Meaningful Details

I loved that Lienne and Harrison planned a wedding that felt authentically them! They chose to do a first look in the courtyard surrounded by the beautiful fall colors, and it was the perfect opportunity to connect amid a busy day. They also exchanged handwritten letters!

The couple’s mutual interests form the foundation of their love story. So, they honored that by incorporating elements of them into their attire! Lienne’s bouquet had a sword-shaped charm to reference the couple’s love of Dungeons & Dragons. Meanwhile, Harrison wore a charm on his boutonniere featuring one of the couple’s favorite video game characters.

The ceremony, which took place after sunset, included some Jewish wedding traditions to honor Lienne’s heritage. The couple signed the ketubah during the ceremony, followed by their mothers. They also chose to “break the glass” to symbolize the importance of maintaining a strong bond throughout their married life, right before sharing their first kiss as husband and wife!

A Unique and Playful Reception

Lienne and Harrison also carried their unique interests into their reception. A Dungeons and Dragons-themed sign awaited guests as they entered the celebration! Instead of a traditional wedding cake, the couple selected a few of their favorite desserts to serve, including mochi and Japanese jelly candy.

However, my favorite way the couple made their reception their own was by playing the wedding shoe game! After each had removed their shoes and exchanged one, they sat back-to-back and held up either their shoe or their partner’s in response to questions asked by one of their wedding party members, who acted as MC. It was a great way for their guests to get to know them better. And it was hilarious—especially when they disagreed on the answer to a question!

I’m so glad I could document Lienne and Harrison’s mansion wedding! Their celebration was true to their love story, which is the best kind. Are you planning an Indianapolis wedding?
