As a wedding photographer, I have had the pleasure of visiting quite a few wedding venues in the Bloomington area. While the majority of them are beautiful, there are a few that really stand out in my mind. Whippoorwill Hill
First on the list is Whippoorwill Hill. This venue is a historic barn and a real working farm. The thing that makes this venue really great for both my couples and myself as a wedding photographer is the different options for indoor and outdoor ceremonies. It’s so great to have an outdoor ceremony space for beautiful, naturally lit photos. It’s also nice to have a backup indoor space in case of inclement weather! There is also a spacious area for a reception which is great for weddings with a larger guest list. One of my personal favorites about this venue is that it has lots of land around the venue, which is perfect for photos!
The Wilds
What can I say about this venue except that it’s what I call a “photographer’s dream”? The space is beautiful for photos inside and outdoors with so much beautiful natural lighting. The space photographs so well and really does not need that much decor to make it beautiful. Of course, I also love that there are options for indoor & outdoor ceremonies. This is always so important in case of stormy weather. There is also a spacious area for receptions either indoors or out, which makes it a great option for large weddings. I also love it because there is so much land around the venue for wedding photos. My favorite spot, of course, is the beautiful pond that they have on the property.
IU Rose Well House/Alumni Hall
If weather permits, Rose Well House is one of my favorite ceremony locations. It is just perfect for an outdoor wedding. I also am a huge fan of this wedding venue because Indiana University’s campus has endless photo opportunities. It’s always so much fun to just wander around the campus scouting out beautiful backdrops for portraits! When it comes to the reception space, they have you covered there as well. Alumni Hall has enough space to hold a huge party and it also allows for stunning wedding reception photos.
Sycamore Farm
Sycamore Farm is located on real farmland. This means there are endless opportunities for wedding photos. They have options for both indoor and outdoor ceremonies, so you can get married here no matter the weather! They also have a spacious area for a reception, with an open covered dance space which always results in fun parties that have guests dancing the night away! This venue does not disappoint for photo opportunities either. The venue has lots of land for stunning photos, with beautiful trees!
