As an Indiana wedding photographer, I love a good downtown Indianapolis wedding! Lydia and Koei got married at the Ivory Foundry, one of my favorite downtown venues, and it was so great to have the opportunity to go back for their gorgeous summer wedding. With friends and family traveling from near and far, it was a beautiful day full of laughs and joyful tears.
Lydia looked lovely on her wedding day with a simple but gorgeous gown from Love Bird Bridal Shop in Mystic, CT. or a fun twist, she added delicate bows to her shoulder straps for the reception, giving her look a fresh and playful touch. Combined with a cathedral veil and a bouquet bursting with white flowers and greenery, she embodied timeless beauty.
It’s no surprise that her first looks were packed with emotion! Lydia shared a sweet, tearful moment with her father before heading to the ceremony space for an unforgettable first look with Koei. His huge, beaming smile said it all—he was overjoyed to see her!
After the first look, we snuck away to nearby Garfield Park for their couple portraits. It was such a beautiful summer day, so the park was the perfect place to get those more intimate photos!
Lydia and Koei really wanted their loved ones to feel included in their ceremony. Both of Lydia’s parents walked her down the aisle, which is something I’m seeing more and more, and I think it leads to some wonderful family moments. Their pastor from their family church officiated, and their wedding party played a meaningful role in the ceremony.
Once the ceremony was over and the couple was joyfully married, it was time for the reception! This reception was so much fun with some great emotional moments. Lydia and Koei’s family and friends stayed in the moment and were there for the couple every step of the way! The toasts were emotional and brought tears to the guests’ eyes, while the first dances were a pleasure to watch.
One of the standout moments? Lydia and Koei’s choreographed first dance, complete with graceful turns and playful dips! When it came to the parent dances, Lydia’s dance with her father was touching, while Koei’s mom really got the dance floor started! She’s a Zumba instructor, and she showed off all her moves, and brought all the energy to kick off the party.
The reception itself included beautiful blush tones and white flowers. The design was simple but classic, all the way down to the abundant greenery in the florals and simple white cake. The blush linens and wrapped menus added an elegant touch that brought everything together. Each guest got a handwritten, personalized note at their table setting too, which is such a thoughtful way to make your guests feel welcome and appreciated.
I loved having the opportunity to photograph Lydia and Koei’s downtown Indianapolis wedding! Getting to return to the Ivory Foundry for a gorgeous and emotional day is always worth it. If you’re looking for a wedding photographer for your special day, whether you’re in Indianapolis or beyond, I’d love to hear all about it! Reach out to me, so we can get to know each other.
