I had a blast capturing Addie & Quinten’s Hot Air Balloon Elopement in Bloomington, IN. The couple met each other during their sophomore year of high school at a mutual friend’s Lego Party. Their relationship began because they made each other laugh, and that continues to be the base of their relationship to this day! After nine years together, the two have created an incredible life together. Addie is a 4th-grade teacher, while Quinten works at a local restaurant. They both have lived in Bloomington all their lives and love to be part of this community. They have two cats, Thor and Otis, who they adore!
When it came to planning their wedding, they had a lot of ideas, but Covid got in the way. So they decided to do something totally unique – elope in a hot hair balloon! They really wanted it to be an epic adventure they would never forget, and they definitely did that! It allowed them to get married overlooking their favorite place – Southern Indiana.
Addie got ready in her childhood home with her mom and bridesmaids. Since they could only have two people in the hot air balloon, it was really special for everyone to get ready together before the couple took off to elope. She also decided to do a first look with her dad and grandparents, which was such a special moment for them to share. Addie and Quinten had their own first look, which was such an intimate moment. After nine years together, the two were so excited to get married!
After their first look, we headed over to the launching area for the hot air balloon. They exchanged their vows in a hot air balloon with their best man and MOH. After exchanging vows and experiencing traveling through the sky, they landed and celebrated with family and close friends. It was one of the most incredible elopements I’ve ever gotten to photograph!
Because of Covid, they then had a celebration with many of their friends and family one year later at Switchyard Park, a city park facility that provided an industrial look with lots of natural light. They decorated the space with photos from their hot air balloon elopement and other things that symbolize them as a couple The day was complete with a ceremony, good food, toasts, and lots of dancing. It was an absolutely perfect day filled with so much love, laughter, and reminiscing.
I love working with such amazing couples like Addie and Quinten, who have a unique and special vision for their wedding day and celebrate their love story. If you are planning your wedding soon, get in touch! Whether you decide on a unique elopement like Addie and Quinton, or a full weekend celebration, I would love to hear all the details for your special day and see how we can work together to make it a reality!
