What to Expect When Booking Mika LH Photography
If you’re ready to hire a wedding photographer, you may wonder how booking works. I’m glad you asked! When couples inquire with me, I strive to make the process as straightforward as possible so we can quickly discover if we’re a good match for their wedding day.
After couples initially contact me, I request a video call. That way, we can meet each other and have a face-to-face chat! On this discovery call, I like to get to know the couple, hear about their wedding plans, and answer any questions they may have. In addition, I often make planning suggestions and provide an outline of what their wedding photography timeline could look like. If they decide to book me as their photographer, this helps them determine which package to book!
During booking, we primarily communicate via email so I can stay organized and file away important information about the couple and their wedding event to reference later. However, I also communicate through texts and phone calls—whichever is the couple’s preference. I require all new clients to fill out an intake form once they’ve decided to book. Then, I send an agreement form and invoice to make it official!
After booking, it’s time to plan the couple’s engagement session. We meet for photos, then keep in touch sporadically until a month before the wedding day. At that point, I send a comprehensive wedding day details questionnaire. That way, I know what to expect and don’t miss any important details on the special day! Around this time, we also schedule a final call to discuss the wedding day timeline and clarify any questions or concerns.
Mika gave us a detailed questionnaire to figure out what we wanted captured on our day. On our wedding day, she and her second shooter went ABOVE and beyond by not only taking stunning photos but also assisting with things throughout the day. She was an integral part of making our day perfect.

Engagement and Wedding Photography Turnaround Time
After booking, many clients want to know what they can expect regarding the turnaround time for their engagement and wedding photos. I pride myself on timely editing and thoughtfully culled galleries that my clients can expect within weeks of their event!
After their engagement session, my clients can expect to receive their sneak peeks after one week and their full gallery after three or four weeks. I always encourage my clients to book an engagement session after they book their wedding with me! It’s a perfect opportunity for us to meet in person so they can get used to being behind the camera and get comfortable with me. Plus, engagement photos look great on save-the-dates and invitations!
On the day of our engagement shoot and wedding day, Mika made us feel relaxed and made the entire process feel easy, quick, and stress-free. She was also great at working with the children in our wedding party and coaxing them out of their shyness. Our photos turned out awesome! Thank you, Mika!
