I had so much fun capturing Julia and Austin’s backyard wedding in Greenwood! The two of them met through mutual friends in high school, and have been together ever since. Julia is a preschool teacher in the Center Grove School District, and Austin works for a valet company in downtown Indy. These high school sweethearts enjoy spending time together and with their pets, and going on vacations to the beach.
First Looks Before The Wedding Ceremony
For their wedding, they got married at Julia’s parent’s property in Greenwood, Indiana. I love when couples do weddings at their family homes because it is so sentimental and such a special location. The day started out with the two of them getting ready with friends and family separately. What I loved about this wedding specifically was that there were lots of first looks! Julia did a first look with her bridesmaids. I love when all the girls turn around and see how beautiful the bride looks in her wedding dress. The look on her flower girl’s face was priceless as well. Julia also did a first look with her dad. This is always a beautiful moment for them to share together before dad walks his daughter down the aisle.
Another fun first look was with Austin and his mom. I don’t see this done very often, but after seeing the love and emotion during this first look I 100% recommend it. This was such a touching moment filled with love between mother and son, and it was so wonderful to be able to capture it on camera.
Then it was time for the bride and groom to do their first look together. As a wedding photographer, I always recommend my couples do a first look. Not only is this a great opportunity for beautiful, emotion-filled photos, but it also is a great opportunity for the bride and groom to get out any nerves before walking down the aisle. It also allows us to get a lot of portraits done ahead of time, so there is more time for the bride and groom to enjoy their reception and cocktail hour with their guests.
Backyard Wedding in Greenwood
After all the first looks were done and we captured all of those special moments on camera, it was time for the ceremony. The ceremony was in the backyard, and the weather was great! The two exchanged vows and became husband and wife in front of their family and friends. After the ceremony, it was time for them to enjoy their reception. They had an absolute blast dancing the night away, and I know they will have so many wonderful memories from that night!
If you are planning a wedding in Indiana (or a destination wedding), be sure to send me a message! I would love to hear all about your upcoming wedding and work together to capture your wedding photos.
