The Oregon coast is so diverse, with endless views and spaces perfect for elopements! Last summer, when I traveled the Oregon coast with other photographers, one of the spots we stopped at was Nehalem Bay. This town is built on the Nehalem River and is surrounded by forests that offer sweeping views of the Pacific coast. It’s located about 30 minutes from Ecola State Park, where we shot an elopement overlooking the ocean at sunset.
We shot at a cabin in the woods for this elopement, allowing for the most intimate and secluded setting for our real-life married couple, Becca and Ryan. Noble Floral Co. designed an organic floral arch filled with soft mauve blooms, dried baby’s breath, and white accents. Becca’s bouquet complemented the palette, with a touch of blush added. She was stunning in a lace gown by Rue de Seine that had a fun touch of fringe hanging from the bodice, adding movement as she walked around the forest. Her groom, Ryan, wore wool pants with a classic black suit jacket and an open collar for a relaxed feel.
Intimate Ceremony in Nehalem Bay
One of my favorite elopement and wedding ideas is writing your vows and reading them to one another. It always makes for the sweetest moment and something that you can read to one another again and again. They always come right from your heart and are so intentional. For this shoot, Becca and Ryan read their vows to one another right at the alter, with handmade books by The Scibblist. Another option, if you would rather keep this private between the two of you, is reading them to one another during your first look. That way, you can still read them to one another and get pictures, but keep it intimate.
After they read their vows, they enjoyed a private meal together, laid out on a large farm table. Dripping candlesticks added a soft glow, and small arrangements were added for a touch of color down the table. It was so dreamy!
I am so glad I got to have this summer trip along the Oregon coast, and I can’t wait to see where my camera takes me next! Whether you are dreaming of an elopement on the water or a wedding in Bloomington, reach out today! I would love to get to know your love story and capture it all.
