Wedding Tips

Are you trying to find the best Indianapolis engagement session locations? There are so many gorgeous spots for an engagement session, I know it can be hard to choose! With so many things to plan for your upcoming wedding day, I know scouting a location for your session can be overwhelming. You have so many decisions to make! That’s exactly why I wanted to put together this list of the best Indianapolis engagement session locations to help you narrow down your list and choose the best spot for your photos. As a wedding photographer, I have taken photos all around Indianapolis!

1) Newfields

First up, is Newfields! Newfields is an art museum that houses artwork from all over the world and sits on 152 acres. It is surrounded by beautifully maintained gardens filled with flowers and outdoor sculptures. It also houses the Lily House, a national historic landmark founded by the Landon Family in 1907 and later bought by the Lilly family in 1932. They eventually donated 52 acres to the Art Association of Indianapolis to build the art museum. The garden is incredible all year long. There are more than half a million blooms! So no matter when you go, it will be beautiful.

It does require a photo permit that you book online in advance, it is best to let your photographer know. They do have a few guidelines you might want to check out before booking just so you know exactly what to expect during your session. As a professional photographer, I am very familiar with this space, and will make sure we follow all protocol!

Next on the list is White River State Park which is located in downtown Indianapolis and sits on 250 acres of land. The park is surrounded by green spaces, trails, trees, and the city skyline in the background.

The park includes an Amphitheater, IMAX Theater, Indianapolis Zoo, Indiana State Museum, Eteljorg Museum, NCAA Hall of Champions, the Canal, and Victory Field, home of the Indians Baseball team. This gives so many different options for photos. You can really get some gorgeous shots here.

Another plus is that no photo permit is not required. There is also ample parking at the park which makes getting here super easy. Plus, you can bring your dog! Not all venues allow pets, so if you are thinking of bringing your special pups with you, this is a great choice.
