Engagement sessions with your dog
Engagement sessions with your dog are a great way to personalize your photos! Your furry friends are a big part of your life and bringing them to your session can really make your photos even more special. However, doing an engagement session with your dog can come with a few logistical issues. Today, I wanted to share a few tips on bringing your dog to your engagement/portrait session.
Bring someone to help
To make sure the session or portraits during your wedding goes well, it is always a good idea to have a person to help out in case something goes wrong, even though your pet is well behaved. It is also nice to have someone take them for a little bit while we snap a few portraits of just you and your finacé! There are pet sitting services that can help out with this, but bringing a friend along to help out is also a great idea, and can make the overall experience even more fun!
Prepare for the unexpected
When it comes to sessions with your dogs, prepare for the unpredictable. Pets can be distracted by their surroundings, especially with new places and new smells. With so much to see and sniff, you want to be flexible and be ready for whatever happens. My best advice – just go with it! We always have so many laughs during these shoots. Just enjoy the moment and I will worry about making you all look your best on camera!
Go for a walk beforehand
Depending on the personality of your pet and what your pet is, it is best to exercise them before a session so they aren’t so hyper. If you are doing an outdoor shoot, this is perfect. Make sure to go for a nice long walk beforehand. That way they are ready for some snuggles during your session and are happy just posing for the camera.
