Spring Wedding at The Old Barn at Brown County | Whitney and Fritz

Real Weddings

Whitney and Fritz’s spring wedding at the Old Barn at Brown Country was a day filled with so many special moments. From Whitney wearing a dress passed down through three generations to the couple planting a tree during their wedding ceremony, the day was incredibly memorable in many ways.

The couple met online, and once they got together for their first date at an Italian restaurant, they didn’t want the night to end, and the rest is history! They now enjoy traveling together and have similar visions for their future. Since many of their interests overlap, it makes things like planning date nights, vacations, and even a wedding pretty simple!

A custom vintage lace gown for the bride

Whitney’s dress was one of my favorite elements of the wedding! It belonged to both her mother and her grandmother (three generations!). Whitney had the dress altered to fit her by adjusting the bodice and turning it into a scoop neck. She also modified the skirt from a ballgown into an a-line, so it was easier to dance in! She made some of the excess fabric into her veil and a purse which she gifted to her mother.

The moments of her mom helping her into her gown, and putting her veil on, are some of my favorites from the day! How incredible is it that this gown was passed down for three generations?

Wedding ceremony at The Old Barn at Brown County

Nestled off the back roads in a secluded Brown County valley sits the perfect venue for Whitney and Fritz’s big day! Built in the late 1800s, The Old Barn at Brown County has been restored with new flooring and romantic chandelier lighting all while maintaining its original rustic charm. The venue provides both beautiful views and a simple backdrop. This allowed the couple to truly create and design a wedding day that was unique and special to them! For their ceremony, Whitney and Fritz had a tree planted, which they watered together. I love this idea since it’s something you can keep forever and will always remind you of your vows!

There is nothing more quite like being able to document and highlight such special moments in a new couple’s life. I know that these photos are going to be passed down for years (just like Whitney’s mother’s wedding dress). I am always honored to be part of my couple’s lives in such a special way. If you are planning a wedding in Indiana or the midwest, get in touch! I would love to hear about your love story and photograph your wedding day!
